"The Yiddish Song of the Week" is a blog presented by the An-sky Jewish Folklore Research Project (AJFRP), itself an initiative of the An-sky Institute for Jewish Culture, a collaboration between the Center for Traditional Music and Dance and the Sholem Aleichem Cultural Center, both based in New York City. The blog is part of a larger effort by the AJFRP to revitalize traditional Yiddish folksinging performance and research, among other traditional Jewish arts. "The Yiddish Song of the Week" provides audio recordings of traditional Yiddish folksingers from around the world contributed by folklorists, ethnomusicologists, musicians, singers and collectors, along with transcriptions in both Yiddish and translations in English as well as commentary on the songs. It also includes an index of all songs and singers on the blog as well as information about significant collections of field recordings of Yiddish folksong.
